CFA Society Melbourne invites you to save the date and register early to celebrate International Women’s Day, and hear from leaders in finance – Wendy Norris, Deputy CIO, Private Markets at Future Fund, and Rebecca Fender, CFA Head of Future of Finance at CFA Institute, moderated by Johanna Neilson, Head of People at VFMC.
The discussion will honour the International Women’s Day theme of #BalanceforBetter to create a more balanced and inclusive workplace.
Wendy Norris – Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Private Markets, Future Fund
Wendy Norris joined the Future Fund in April 2010 and is the Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Private Markets. Wendy is responsible for managing the strategy for the Private Markets portfolio which includes Infrastructure & Timberland, Private Equity and Property. Prior to this role, Wendy was Head of Infrastructure and Timberland.
Wendy was previously an Investment Director with Hastings Funds Management where she was responsible for managing infrastructure investments and leading transactions in Australia, the UK and the US.
Wendy holds an applied science degree from the University of New South Wales and a graduate management diploma from the Australian Graduate School of Management.
Rebecca Fender, CFA – Head of Future of Finance at CFA Institute
Rebecca Fender, CFA, is head of the Future of Finance initiative at CFA Institute, a long-term global effort to shape a trustworthy, forward-thinking investment profession that better serves society. Prior to joining CFA Institute, Ms. Fender was a vice president at BlackRock working with pension funds and endowments, and she also worked at Cambridge Associates, where she published research about manager selection.
She earned her undergraduate degree in economics from Princeton University and holds an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. Future of Finance publications include From Trust to Loyalty: A Global Survey of What Investors Want, and Gender Diversity in Investment Management: New Research for Practitioners to Close the Gender Gap. Previously, Ms. Fender also served as the director of the flagship CFA Institute Annual Conference.
Johanna Neilson – Head of People, VFMC
Johanna joined VFMC in November 2018 as Head of People as part of the Executive Leadership Team. Prior to this, Johanna spent nine years at Cbus Super Fund as the Executive Manager People and Culture, developing and leading the people strategy, initiatives and practices of the Fund as part of the Executive team. What sets Johanna apart is her uncomplicated and down-to-earth approach, creating commercial results because people are thriving. As a trusted, pragmatic advisor to CEOs and Executive Leaders, her reputation for providing commercial insight and advice to drive long-term, sustainable, impactful people programs is proven.
Johanna has held senior HR roles in financial and professional services, FMCG and the services sector. Johanna holds a Master of Human Resources Management and a Graduate Diploma of Human Resource Management from Deakin University. Johanna is passionate about equality and inclusion and is the 2017 AHRI Diversity Champion Award recipient.
