Catherine Wood, Founder CEO and CIO of ARK Invest, joins this virtual event to address investors in APAC and to share her investment insights on disruptive innovation. Ms. Wood is joined by Ms. Yimei Li, CFA, member of the CFA Institute Board of Governors and CEO of China Asset Management Co. Ltd., a top asset manager in China. China is the fastest growing economy despite the global pandemic and the place where the smart economy is transforming business models and economic structure. The discussion, moderated by Dr Zhen Wei, CFA, managing director at MSCI, throws light on winning formulas and lessons for investors in Asia.

Speakers
Catherine D. Wood is chief executive officer and chief investment officer at ARK Investment Management LLC, which aims to identify large-scale investment opportunities in the public markets resulting from technological innovations centered around genome sequencing, robotics, artificial intelligence, energy storage, and blockchain technology. Previously, she served as chief investment officer of global thematic strategies at AllianceBernstein. In addition, Ms. Wood cofounded the hedge fund Tupelo Capital Management and served as chief economist, equity research analyst, portfolio manager, and director at Jennison Associates. She started her career at the Capital Group as an assistant economist. Ms. Wood was on the 2018 Bloomberg 50 list of people across business, entertainment, finance, politics, technology, and science who have defined global business. She was part of the roundtable in the “Fortune Investors Guide: The Best Investing Advice for 2019 from Fortune’s Experts.” Ms. Wood received the Women in Finance Outstanding Contribution Award from Market Media, and she was a featured speaker at the World Economic Forum (China) and the World Strategic Forum (Miami). She received a bachelor of science, summa cum laude, in finance and economics from the University of Southern California.
Ms. Li joined ChinaAMC in 2001. Prior to being appointed CEO of ChinaAMC in May 2018, she had been the Head of Sales & Marketing since year 2012. She became the Head of Sales in 2007 and later the Head of Marketing in 2013. Before that, she served as Senior Vice President of International Business between 2001 to 2004. Ms. Li holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University and an M.A. in Economics from Renmin University of China. She has served as a member of CFA Institute Board of Governors since September 2020.
Dr. Zhen WEI is a Managing Director at MSCI and responsible for bringing MSCI’s integrated investment solutions to leading investors across the APAC region. In addition, he spearheads thought leadership on China and Emerging Markets, Global Investing, Factor Investing, ESG Investing and Asset Allocation.
Prior to joining MSCI, Zhen Wei led the Asia Pacific team of the Global Cross Asset Systematic Research division at J.P. Morgan. Before this, Zhen was a senior equity strategist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and fixed income strategist at Lehman Brothers. Mr. Wei has extensive research experience in global macro, ESG integration, asset allocation, risk management, quantitative models and investment product design. His research has been published in various international journals.
Zhen Wei acquired his PhD in Statistics and Master Degree in Financial Mathematics from Stanford University. He lectured MBA courses at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
