Overview

The International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) sets the principles-based International Valuation Standards (IVS) to bring confidence to global valuations used in financial reporting, transactions, litigation, and other circumstances. The IVS are used in more than 100 countries as a framework for valuations of all assets and liabilities. The IVSC has launched a public consultation on the exposure draft of the new standards to be implemented in July 2024.

In this event, two technical directors of the IVSC, Alexander Arohnson and Nicolas Konialidis went through the proposed changes and explain their rationales. The IVSC looks forward to receiving feedback both from individuals writing in their personal capacity and from organisations.

Alexander Aronsohn FRICS

Alexander Aronsohn FRICS is a Chartered Surveyor with long and wide-ranging experience encompassing residential asset management, commercial and residential development, rating, national and international valuation and investment.
Alexander is the IVSC Director of Technical Standards for Tangible Assets and assists the IVSC Standards Review Board and its Asset Boards on drafting IVS, perspectives papers, presentations, training and articles. In addition, Alexander has a leading role in various International Standards Coalitions and is the Executive Secretary of the International Property Measurement Standards Coalition (IPMSC) Standard Setting Committee (SSC), the International Ethical Standards Coalition (IESC) Standard Setting Committee (SSC), and International Land Measurement Standards (ILMS) Standard Setting Committee (SSC). Prior to joining the IVSC Alexander was the RICS Director of Technical Standards and was also the Executive Secretary of the International Fire Safety Standards Coalition (IFSSC) Standard Setting Committee (SSC) and a member of the International Construction Measurement Standards Coalition (ICMSC) Standard Setting Committee (SSC).

Nicolas Konialidis
Nicolas Konialidis CFA

Nicolas Konialidis is the Director (Asia) of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC). He is also the technical director of the IVSC’s Business Valuation Board. He has three decades of experience in capital markets, corporate finance, and valuations.
Nicolas was previously the Managing Director (Valuations) at EverEdge Global, a consultancy specializing in intangible assets.
Between 2010 and 2017, Nicolas was a corporate finance advisor and Investor Relations officer for corporate clients in several industries, including Renewable Energy.
From 1994 to 2010, Nicolas spent sixteen years in equity markets in Paris, London, New York, and San Francisco in an array of functions from trading to Institutional sales for firms such as SE Banken (Enskilda), Credit Agricole and Sanford C. Bernstein, a subsidiary of AllianceBernstein.
Nicolas is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Valuer and Appraiser (CVA). He is an Associate Member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA-BV).
He has lived in Singapore since 2009.

Sivananth Ramachandran
Sivananth Ramachandran CFA, CIPM

Sivananth "Siva" Ramachandran, CFA, is the Director of Capital Markets Policy, India at CFA Institute. In his role, he is responsible for advocating policy positions on issues that impact Indian capital markets, including corporate governance, ESG, and financial reporting, to name a few. Siva was part of a SEBI working group that reviewed the related party transaction regulations. He is frequently quoted in media. Siva has nearly 13 years of experience in financial services. Prior to joining the CFA Institute, he spent five years at Morningstar, and led their global index product development team. He also served as a spokesperson for sustainability at Morningstar India. Prior to his time at Morningstar, Siva spent nearly five years at MSCI where he co-authored research papers on small cap investing, portfolio construction, and economic exposure. Siva has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. He also holds the chartered financial analyst (CFA) and professional risk management (PRM) designations, and the fundamentals of sustainability accounting (FSA) credential provided by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).
